About the event
Research shows that parents of children with developmental disabilities experience higher levels of chronic stress, anxiety, and depression than parents of children without disabilities. Parents can find support throughout their community, but nothing compares to the emotional support of connecting with parents walking a similar path. People can empathize and sympathize, but they will never really understand unless they are walking it themselves. Having a support system provided by "like" parents is essential when navigating this journey.
You MUST make time for yourself, even if it's just for an hour a week. Come and meet your tribe. Talk to a few seasoned parents who may offer the direction you desperately need. Or better yet, just sit with those of us who simply "know."
