About the event
Making friends, joining conversations, and navigating social situations can feel overwhelming for many children — especially those who need extra support with communication or interpreting social cues. Friends in Focus is a supportive, engaging, and fun social skills group designed to give kids the tools they need to feel more confident in social settings.
Led by Amanda McKinney, MA CCC-SLP, a licensed and experienced speech-language pathologist, this group is more than just therapy — it's a safe space where children can practice real-life social scenarios through play, movement, games, role-playing, and peer interaction coaching. Sessions are tailored to each group’s skill level, ensuring that children are both supported and challenged in ways that meet them where they are.
Throughout the program, children will:
Learn how to initiate and maintain conversations
Practice turn-taking, sharing, and group participation
Build skills for managing emotions in social situations
