Littles Music Therapy

This music therapy group will run for four weeks.  Each week is $5.00.  You must sign up for all three weeks.  If it receives enough registrations (number will be limited), we will follow up with monthly registrations.  Dates for this class are May 1, May 8, May 15, and May 22.  (No class May 29th)

We have contracted with one of the most respected and well-known music therapist in Washtenaw county! Life Dynamic Music Therapy is expanding their practice adding more music therapists.  We have the opportunity to snag one up for a "Littles Music Therapy" group for babies 0-6 years old.  Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Music therapy interventions can be designed to:

• Promote wellness
• Manage stress
• Alleviate pain
• Express feelings
• Enhance memories
• Improve communication
• Promote physical rehabilitation

In our case as parents with those that have developmental disabilities, it helps our kids learn emotional regulation.  Music therapists may use drumming interventions to work on bilateral coordination (use of both arms), singing exercises to improve articulation, adapted music lessons to improve fine motor skills and cognition, dancing with scarves to improve hand eye coordination, and a variety of other music-based interventions.
