One Sip From Crazy Developmental Disabilities Parent Support Group

Research shows that parents of children with developmental disabilities experience higher levels of chronic stress, anxiety and depression than parents of children without disablities. Parents of children with developmental disabilities can find support throughout their community, however nothing compares (underline and bold that) the emotional support of having a connection to parents that are walking a path similar to their own. People can empathize, people can sympathize, but will never really understand unless walking it. Having that support system provided by "like" parents is a must when walking this path. You MUST make time for yourself if even just a hour a week. Come and meet your tribe. Talk to a few "seasoned" parents who may be able to give you the direction you despirately need. Or better yet, just sit with those of us that just "know".
